“The best is the only good” Free translation
António Lobo Antunes
The architect's job is to understand the vocation of the place and intervene to complete it and give it meaning.
The place - objects, buildings, landscape - is the setting that supports human activities, where we orient ourselves, identify and relate to each other. This must meet and stimulate sensory, intellectual and social needs.
Symbols and meanings, materials and construction systems, the quality of light and the geometry of the function, are the language with which the work, in silence, communicates.
Each intervention is a unique synthesis, the result of the context of each project, the client and its program of needs, its cultural and geographical territory, available technology, budget and intervention time, filtered by perception, memory and history, having as a touchstone, theory and drawing.
The project is a process of interaction between all the agents involved - promoters, technicians, administrations - seeking full articulation of knowledge resulting in solutions that are coherent with the concept and adequate to the economic, legislative and technical framework.
